Thousand Words Short Story Competition

Literary competition, the originality of which is the writing of a short story in a thousand words on a set theme that is different each year.

This competition, organized by the Cultural Action Department under the aegis of the City of Fréjus, has evolved over the years while maintaining its originality: writing a short story in a thousand words on a set theme that is different each year.

When the competition opens, every September 1st, participants are invited to send their text until January 31st.
After an initial reading entrusted to the members of the pre-selection Jury, the short stories selected are read and graded by the Juries – Adult competition and Youth competition – composed of qualified personalities from culture and literature who establish the prize list: First Adult Prize, Originality Prize (adult competition), High School Students' Prize and Middle School Students' Prize.

The Charlemagne bookstore, partner of this literary event, awards 3 Booksellers' Prizes each year: Adults, High School Students, Middle School Students.

The presentation of these distinctions is organized in the sumptuous setting of the Villa Aurélienne on the occasion of the proclamation of the winners in the presence of the Juries, the President and the participants.
