Inauguration of the statue of Johnny Hallyday

Saturday, September 21 at 5:00 p.m., a life-size statue of Johnny Hallyday will be unveiled during the inauguration in Port-Fréjus, by the Mayor, David Rachline, surrounded by the Despérados and all the fans.

The cherry on the cake will be a live concert that will undoubtedly “light the fire”, with musicians… from Johnny

The idea is to create a place in memory and in honor of Johnny Hallyday, the idol of several generations, the most famous legend of Rock and the French scene. The environment must be pleasant and easily accessible in the south of France. "The many fans do not all have the means to go to St Barthélémy to pay tribute to Johnny" specify the managers of HDC Deperados "This statue in Fréjus will become a place of pilgrimage, that's for sure, and not just for bikers!" specifies Alex Hannan.

Johnny Hallyday and Fréjus, it's a long love story! With a first concert in 1966 and the last 50 years later, almost to the day, in 2016. It was therefore obvious for the Mayor of Fréjus, David Rachine, to accept the project presented by the “Harley Davidson Club les Desperados” created in the Var in 1992, by Johnny himself.

It was the artist Olivier Delobel, a sculptor from the southwest known for his ability to paint faces, and who has already created statues of Trénet and Brassens, who was chosen to create the work: a life-size bronze statue (1m85) and very expressive, with Johnny's smile, Johnny's expression, Johnny's electric blue stage outfit, at his best, since it was his 50th birthday concert in June 1993 at the Parc des Princes, which served as the model.
